Cataloging

In building EBBA, our team needed to make several key decisions about the methodology of our data entry and transcription for each of the catalog headings. Due to the nature of designing a TEI compliant database that can accommodate the idiosyncrasies of more than one ballad collection, we have developed a rigorous cataloging system in collaboration with existing cataloging authorities. Toward this end, we have joined forces with the English Short Title Catalogue (ESTC). All of our ballads are crosschecked with the ESTC and will be cross-linked in order to ensure the accuracy of both catalogs.
