E Hath my herte in holde So sure I can not starte whiche causeth me to be bolde With lovers for to take parte. B.hath me bounde so sure Thorowe Venus ordynaunce That in paynes I must endure There for to take my chaunce. The paynes they be so stronge And paynefull unto me That I thynke I have great wronge Yf on me she have no petie. Nowe petie I the crave Her mynde for to remove That I may ones have Her favour whom I love. It is for no great substaunce Nor goodes that I her desyre But onelye for the governaunce And the honesty in her doth apere. For yf I myght obtayne To fall unto my loote Then wolde I be moste fayne To knyt an endles knotte. And yf I get no grace Of her whom I love best My herte is in a wofull case Never lyke for tolyue in rest. Therfore Venus I the requyre The gods of this arte That soone thou wylte appere To stryke her with thy darte. For to cause her have some rueth And graunt to me her love That meanes nothynge but trueth By God that is above. Thus E, and B. I byd farewell Desyrynge them not to be unkynde For of letters all, both great and small They are depyst in mynde. Hertely unto you I me recomende Desyrynge you not to be offended For yf any thynge be amysse That here in is Unto my power it shal be amended.
