Eric Nebeker will give a talk titled "Musical Broadsides and their Audiences." The talk will focus on the various ways that music was printed on broadsides and how their printing influenced the ways that consumers used them.

Performance of Ballads from The Winter's Tale, 4 March 2010

EBBA's Music Specialist, Nichole Dechaine, led a troupe of ballad singers in a rendition of the ballads Autolycus sings in The Winter's Tale, including an example of the bawdy kind he refers to in his "pack," such as "The Maids Complaint / For want of a Dil Doul." The discussion included strategies for staging these ballads in productions of The Winter's Tale.

Britwell Ballads at the Huntington Library, 29 January 2010

Stephen Tabor, Curator of Early Printed Books at the Huntington Library in San Marino, hosted for the EBBA team a private viewing of the Huntington's 16th-century Britwell broadside ballads as well as some of its 17th- and 18th- century ballad holdings. This was a very rare opportunity to see broadside ballad originals, made even rarer by the fact that there are very few surviving 16th-century printed ballads in English worldwide (less than 300).

Bodleian Curatorial Roundtable, 13 November 2009

In November, key members of the EBBA team attended a roundtable discussion hosted by the Bodleian Centre for the Study of the Book.
